Dr. David von Rosen is an international investor, entrepreneur and adventurer, who has founded successful global businesses in the fintech, gaming, fashion, insurance and real estate sectors.
Through the VONROSEN family office, our founder and Principal invests in global businesses, with a particular focus on the renewable energy, gaming, nutrition, defense and mobility sectors.
Von Rosen has an appetite for high-risk investments and usually takes a majority share, fuelling growth through his expertise, network, and capital. His profitable majority investments, which were all bootstrapped and don’t have any VC or external investors, made more than 1bn USD in revenue in 2023.
He has founded several gaming and gambling companies around the world, including Gibraltar-based Lottoland, which now serves over 18 million customers and is licensed in 15 markets worldwide. Lottoland holds the Guinness World Record for the largest ever online payout in history of €90mn. The business has planted over 2.7 million trees and is the first in the sector to go carbon neutral.
More recently, David co-founded 25 Degrees, a super prime property development company specialising in bespoke residential properties in Dubai. The developer has broken two sales records on Palm Jumeirah to date and partnered with award-winning architects such as Killa Design.
Von Rosen established his first entrepreneurial success in 2002 with CareerConcept, an innovative higher education funding business, for which he was selected as a Young Global Leader – a community of hand-picked visionaries and innovators – by the World Economic Forum.
He founded the invite-only, membership-based fashion label VONROSEN in 2008, which produced high-end fashion basics, including the VONROSEN black turtleneck pullover that Steve Jobs wore as he unveiled the iCloud at the WWDC conference in 2011.
He believes that everyone can achieve whatever they want if they're motivated and hungry to learn. He's supported countless entrepreneurship causes and efforts over the years, and seeks out ambitious, resourceful and relentless founders to invest in – over rigid business plans.
Currently based in Dubai and Switzerland, von Rosen was born and raised in Germany. He studied economics and business at the European Business School and later gained a PhD in Economics from the University of Economics in Prague in 2007. He speaks English, German, French, and Spanish.
David’s aptitude for thriving in high-risk situations and his passion for continuous learning extend beyond his business ventures. He is an avid sportsman participating in motocross, rock climbing, kitesurfing, downhill biking, alpinism, freeride, GS skiing, and semi-professional motor racing.
He also adventures, having visited 110 countries – including locations with limited accessibility such as the Yemeni island of Socotra – and summited challenging mountains such as Ama Dablam in Nepal. He also collects sports cars and modern art and is working toward a Private Pilot License.
