David von Rosen authored an article for Tech.eu in which he argued that Europe is leading the charge toward a cashless society.
In the article, David predicted that the next start-up unicorn could likely be the first to facilitate small-scale peer-to-peer transactions like tips cashlessly. He anticipated this startup to succeed by offering a simple, inclusive solution that allows money transfers without requiring both parties to have pre-existing accounts or apps.
This innovation is necessary, he noted, because current fintech solutions, such as PayPal, are exclusive and inconvenient as they require both parties in a transaction to have the app and an associated account set up. This, David says, leaves room for a creative and nimble startup to dominate this niche market and help complete the transition to a cashless society.
"It will take creativity and innovation to monetize the last remaining physical transactions in the informal economy."
